Business platforms — POS, ERP, CRM and the systems a company runs on
The operational core: point of sale, inventory, purchasing, branches, customers, ledgers and the reports an owner trusts.
Business platforms are the least glamorous and most consequential software a company owns. They decide whether stock matches the shelf, whether the ledger balances without a month of reconciliation, and whether opening a second location means a second system.
We build these around a movement ledger rather than a set of screens: sales, purchases, returns, transfers and adjustments each write a record, and every quantity or balance on screen is a consequence of those records. That is why the reports can be trusted and why an audit is a query rather than an investigation.
EncoderPOS is our own production platform in this category — point of sale, live inventory, purchasing, multi-branch operations, accounting and analytics — and it is the reference we point clients to instead of describing hypothetical capability.
Problem → software → result
Three situations we are asked about most often in this category.
- 01
Multi-branch retail
- Problem
- Each location keeps its own stock numbers and the group total is assembled by hand each week.
- Software
- Branch-scoped stock, pricing and permissions on one account, with transfers as recorded movements.
- Result
- A group-wide stock picture that is current, and branch comparison without a spreadsheet.
- 02
Purchasing and payables
- Problem
- Purchase orders, deliveries and supplier bills live in three places and rarely agree.
- Software
- Ordering, goods received and supplier billing as one connected chain posting into stock and accounts.
- Result
- Discrepancies visible at receipt rather than at month end, and payables that reconcile.
- 03
Ledger from operations
- Problem
- Sales and purchases are typed into the accounting package a second time at month end.
- Software
- Automatic posting from operational documents into a real chart of accounts with double-entry journals.
- Result
- A trial balance that is a view of operations rather than a monthly reconstruction of them.

FAQ
Business Platforms — questions
Should we buy an ERP instead?
If your operation matches a mainstream ERP, buy it. Custom pays off when the process that makes you money is the part the ERP cannot model without permanent workarounds.
Can this integrate with our accounting software?
Yes. Where a business is committed to an existing package we post into it through its API rather than duplicating the ledger.
